Gifted leadership

Are things getting to you?  Could you be micro-managing?  What should you ignore?  Who’s getting under your skin? And why?

You can’t “leave emotions at the door” at your workplace.  They are a part of each human that you lead.  When you feel a strong emotion, you need to examine it.  Pause.  Don’t react.  Prioritize the conflicts that you are going to allow, and file or release the rest.  This is sort of like the time management quadrants—what issues are not urgent AND not important.  Once the matter is categorized as such, don’t respond!  We’re only human.  Celebrate differences.  Let people be who they are.  Work with the important facets of each person, and allow the rest to just be.  “Leave the gun, take the cannoli” …(Clemenza).  And here’s a quote from the President of Currie Management Consultants, Inc. (who also happens to be my dad!): “Don’t have rabbit ears!”
